Manhattan Film Festival Announces Its 21st Annual Edition

Celebrating independent filmmakers, original storytelling and creative vision while opening new doors to industry connections and professional opportunities.

The Manhattan Film Festival (MFF) is preparing for its 21st annual edition, continuing its tradition of celebrating independent cinema in the heart of New York City. Recognized among FilmFreeway's Top 100 Best Reviewed Festivals, MFF has established a reputation for supporting original storytelling, creative courage and independent filmmakers.

Founded on the principles of discovery, transparency and community, the festival presents a diverse selection of feature films, short films, documentaries and student productions in professional Manhattan theaters. It offers filmmakers an opportunity to bring their work to audiences in one of the world's most influential media and cultural markets.

The festival's mission: To provide more than a screening by creating opportunities for recognition, professional connections and the continued development of independent filmmaking.

Introducing the MFF Filmmaker Benefits Program

Program launch: December 1, 2026

For its 21st annual edition, the Manhattan Film Festival is introducing a new initiative designed to provide participating filmmakers with access to professional resources, exclusive benefits, special offers and opportunities from companies across the entertainment industry.

The program aims to support independent filmmakers in different stages of production and post-production. Potential benefits include resources relating to music licensing and clearance, production services, post-production and other essential filmmaking needs.

Importantly, every filmmaker who submits a film to MFF will be eligible to participate, regardless of whether the film is selected for screening. Additional benefits and participating companies are expected to be introduced throughout the 2026–2027 festival season.

With this initiative, MFF seeks to create additional value for filmmakers while encouraging collaboration and helping independent projects move forward.

Industry Connections & Career Opportunities

The Manhattan Film Festival believes that a film festival should be more than a venue for presenting a completed production. It should also provide a platform for discovery, professional relationships and future opportunities.

Through screenings, filmmaker events, industry relationships and developing initiatives, MFF works to connect independent storytellers with audiences, collaborators and entertainment industry professionals.

As the festival enters its 21st annual edition, its continued focus is on expanding opportunities and delivering lasting value to the filmmakers who make independent cinema possible.
